Psychiatric Rehabilitation Curriculum Development from a Consumer Perspective

Tis article is a retrospective of the author’s work in the area of program development. In it, she describes her introduction to psychiatric rehabilitation, why she changed her research and teaching foci, and how she incrementally implemented the principles and practices of psychiatric rehabilitation within an existing MS in Rehabilitation Counseling Program. In addition to sharing the San Diego State University psychiatric rehabilitation curriculum, the author explains how her lived experience as a person with bipolar disorder influenced the delivery of the curriculum and, ultimately, student outcomes.
