Peer Review Process

The American Journal of Psychiatric Rehabilitation follows a structured double-blind peer review process to maintain high standards of academic integrity, quality, and transparency in scholarly publishing. The steps involved in the review process are visually illustrated below:

    1. Manuscript Submission:
Authors submit their manuscripts via the journal’s online submission portal.

    2. Editorial Screening:
The editor or editorial board assesses:
    • Fit with the journal’s aims and scope
    • Basic quality (clarity, structure, adherence to guidelines)
Outcome: Manuscript is either sent for peer review or desk-rejected if deemed unsuitable.

    1. Peer Review:
Manuscripts passing the editorial check are sent to 2–3 independent experts.
(Double-blind: identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential.)
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:
    • Significance (contribution to the field)
    • Methodology (rigor, ethics, data validity)
    • Presentation (clarity, organization)
    • Theoretical or empirical grounding

    1. Reviewer Recommendations:
Reviewers submit detailed reports with a recommendation:
    • Accept (minor revisions)
    • Revise and Resubmit
    • Reject

    1. Editorial Decision:
The editor consolidates feedback from all reviewers and communicates the final decision to the author.

    2. Publication:
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, typesetting , and are assigned a DOI before being published online.
